Local Area

Picture
North Chideock is nestled in a valley offering endless walks from Taddle Farm House. We are only 3 miles from the busy, popular town of Bridport which has a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays so visitors can enjoy browsing the wide variety of stalls.

There is a huge choice of local and organically produced food for which the area is now renowned and a good selection of local places to eat. Entertaining events are frequently held at The Electric Palace and the Arts Centre produces an excellent variety of artistic shows, plays and exhibitions.

West Bay, only a few minutes drive from the centre of Bridport, has a small harbour where fishing trips can be organized. There is a good beach for swimming and plenty of rocks to climb for the more adventurous. Other good local beaches are at Charmouth, Seatown and Eype.

Lyme Regis, only a 10 minute drive from Bridport, is a lovely little town where visitors will enjoy  the range of shops and restaurants or visit the famous Cobb near a lively harbour. The sandy beach and promenade are often busy in high season. There is also a good local cinema for rainy afternoons!

The village of Chideock offers two lovely local pubs. The George Inn is a Palmers pub with friendly staff and a warm welcome, serving great food. The Clock House is a free house with a more sporty vibe, and serves local ales and scrumpy ciders. An extra mile down the road is the recently refurbished renowned Anchor Inn. Perfectly positioned on the beach, this pub offers great food and drinks and amazing cliff beer garden and is well worth a visit.

This area of West Dorset is extremely popular for walkers and there are some lovely gardens worth a visit. Do read the Marshwood Vale Magazine or enquire at the Tourist office in Bridport.
